Abstract

Robotic surgery has developed rapidly since 2005. Though this procedure has many advantages, some problems
have also been reported. Nerve injury after minimally invasive surgery is rare, but as the numbers of advanced laparoscopic
and robotic procedures increase, the anticipated risk of this complication may rise because Robotic surgery
often requiressteeper Trendelenburg position and longer operation time when compared to traditional laparoscopic
surgery. To prevent nerve injury, operation time should be minimized and position of the patient should
be checked frequently, particularly when operation time is prolonged. Also, steep Trendelenburg position should be
avoided as much as possible. We report two cases of nerve injuries after robot-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy.
One was brachial plexus injury and the other was sciatic nerve injury.
